I Retire with hope not fear, FRSC boss tells personnel

Mr Boboye Oyeyemi, Corps Marshal, Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), said every Officer and Marshal of the commission would henceforth be more hopeful and not fearful, when going into retirement.
Oyeyemi said this on Monday while addressing newsmen after the inauguration of the Board of Post-service Scheme of the commission, at its headquarters, in Abuja.
According to Oyeyemi, the scheme will ensure that contributors will be paid their monthly contribution, with all accruable interests on the last day of work before retirement.
"Upon assumption of office as the Corps Marshal, I made a pledge to renew the zeal in management of the affairs of FRSC through enhancement of staff welfare in service and upon retirement.
"This scheme will ensure that contributors will have something to part with immediately they are due for retirement, while waiting for pension and other dues that may follow.
"It is always good to prepare for retirement while still in active service and the scheme is very helpful because it makes contributors to be prudent in their spending.
"The board is constituted with a structure that will ensure that the fund is well managed; even deceased family or dismissed staff will get their contribution with interest on time, while those on retirement will get theirs' on the last day.
"It is a compulsory saving, deducted before the payment of salary to the individuals and it is remitted to the scheme's account.
"The deduction varies with rank of each staff and some people voluntarily contribute more than basic deduction because they believe in the system.
"I don't want to see any personnel of this service going cap in hands after retirement.
"It is a something I will like other agencies to emulate for the welfare of their staff," he said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that members of the board cut across all the ranks of the commission and the board is headed by the Corps Marshal.
