Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS) militants have kidnapped over 900
Kurdish civilians in the Syrian province of Aleppo over the last three
weeks, forcing them into digging trenches, tunnels and fighting by their
side in retort for the Manbij operation, spokesman for the US-backed
Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) has said.
“Whenever Daesh [Arabic pejorative term for IS]
is defeated, they retaliate against civilians,” Darwish
told AP. More than 450 IS militants were reportedly killed in the
battle for Manbij on June 6. The SDF, supported by the US-led coalition
air power, have lost 89 soldiers.
