FG Releases Census On All The Goats, Cattles, Pigs, Sheeps, Camels, Other Livestocks In Nigeria

Priest of Agriculture and Rural Development, Audu Ogbeh, yesterday June second, discharged points of interest of the 2011 National Agricultural Sample Survey, which demonstrates an expected number of domesticated animals in the nation.

At a news meeting in Abuja yesterday June second, Ogbeh said the 2011 statistics on Nigeria's animals demonstrated that the nation had an expected 7.1 million pigs, 41.3 million sheep, 19.5 million dairy cattle, 28,000 camels, 974,499 jackasses, 11.6 million ducks, 145 million chickens, 1.2 million turkeys and 72.5 million goats.

As per Ogbeh, the figures have put Nigeria as the main nation in animals possession in Africa however this has not deciphered into satisfactory procurement of protein nourishment for Nigerians. He called for enhanced commercialization of animals raising in Nigeria.
