A birthday party on Kehinde Street in the Ajegunle region of Lagos State turned ridiculous when a few visitors started a battle and cut a schoolboy, Endurance Augustine, to death. Policemen from the Ajeromi division were said to have expelled Endurance's carcass and kept it in a funeral home.
PUNCH Metro learnt that Endurance hosted gone to the get-together with some of his companions, when a battle broke out.
An occupant told our journalist that the reason for the battle was obscure, including that the gangsters, who were visitors at the gathering, fled in the wake of cutting the casualty to death.
It was assembled that two suspects, who were attempting to conceal the casualty's carcass, were secured by occupants and gave over to the police.
At the point when our reporter went by the range, Endurance's mom, who did not need her name in print, said she had gone to a congregation administration at 4pm on Wednesday just to hear the news of her child's demise on her arrival.
The mother of four included that if Endurance had advised her that he was going to a gathering, she would have deterred him from going as the range had been strained.
She said, "I don't think Endurance had a fight with anybody before he was wounded to death. He didn't advise me that he was setting off to a birthday party. He was an agreeable kid. He went to class each day and should be in the senior school by September. I am tormented that my child was killed. I don't know who sorted out the gathering."
An occupant, who distinguished herself just as Mary, said she was in her shop when she saw a horde of adolescents trooping into the road.
"Their dressing did not demonstrate great behavior. Truth be told, some of them went to the front of my shop and smoked hemp. I cautioned them to stop and requesting that they leave my premises, yet they overlooked me.
"It was on the next day that I was told they battled and a kid was killed," she included.
A witness, who talked on state of secrecy, said, "I learnt that the birthday host was a woman. She used to stay with her folks on Kehinde Street. She chose to go ahead Wednesday to praise the birthday.
"I was in my home eating when I heard individuals yelling that they were battling on the following road and a kid had been murdered. Everybody rapidly close their entryways until policemen came. They took the kid's carcass away. A tricycle was likewise set on fire by the hooligans.
"What started as a birthday party brought about a road battle. Group battles are getting to be uncontrolled now in Ajegunle. The police ought to reinforce security in the zone."
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dolapo Badmos, affirmed the episode.
She said, "Opponent cliques drew in each other in the city and the police activated to the scene. A carcass was found and saved at the Ajeromi General Hospital for a post-mortem examination. Two suspects were captured at the spot and endeavors are on to capture other escaping suspects."
